RHANLEIGH SWEET RED
Viticulture and winemaking:
This delightful Sweet Red wine was made from
the noble Merlot grape. The vineyard is rooted in
a lime-rich weathered shale soil.
Harvesting took place in mid-March and the
grapes were received in excellent condition. After
crushing and de-stemming, the wine was
inoculated with AWRI796 yeast strain.
Regular aerated pump-overs ensured excellent
colour and structure. The wine was pressed at 5
degrees balling sugar and fermentation finished in
a tank with 1g/l French oak viniblocks added.
After malolactic fermentation, the wine was
racked, put back on the oak and matured for 9
months. After maturation, the wine was fined,
filtered, and sweetened with grape juice
concentrate before sterile bottling.
Tasting notes:
Juicy dark red, full of berry flavors. The perfect
wine for many occasions. Serve between 8
degrees – 10 degrees Celsius
